after seeing the shots that some of you have posted from p3d I decided to give it a go myself.
it was not a decision I have taken easily, I have used FSX since the day of release, I can remember walking into town on the day of release just to get my retail copy so as you can imagine I have a LOT of hours invested into my FSX.CFG to get it to run smooth.
after running p3d for less than 1 hour I can see that it is a lot more stable, even after installing a couple of my p3d capable add-ons, I don't no if I'm a fan of all this eye candy, (excessive shadows, HDR etc) but I am willing to give it a go, and who knows it might even replace my fsx

Awesome pictures. Great choice with Prepar3D. But install V3.2 (latest version). Lot of important bugs fixed with the latest version. And f.y.i, you can max out the settings in P3D (Autogen and stuff), if you have a good Graphics Card and good CPU.

My setup isnt all that good anymore.. i am ashamed to say that it has been neglected for a few years. Could do with spending some money on it. Give it a new lease of life lol.
AMD PHENOM II x4 @3.3ghz NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 650 8GB UNBRANDED 1333 RAM
I SPEND ALL MY SPARE MONEY ON THE ADDONS AND NEGLECT THE COMPUTER THAT RUNS IT ALL

You will see a great improvement with a Intel CPU I7 and a GTX 970 - 980 (Ti). Somewhere around 40 - 50 FPS with the Airbus is possible with very high settings. Here are mine and I would call my PC a "midrange PC". Feel free to ask me stuff about settings, setup or hardware for P3D.

Yes. But with a wife. 2 kids. And a house that is about to be demolished i dont have that type of money to upgrade. I wish i did the car alone just cost me £1000 in repairs lol
For the time being my sim will have to sit at the lower end of the scale lol

Yeah. But even with your CPU and GPU you will have way more fun in P3D.

Yes that is true.
I have already noticed a huge performance increase. I have better settings than i use in fsx and i average around 16fps but the biggest thing is that it is smooth.
I believe that i will permanently make the switch over to p3d. I have made 1 flight EPWA-EGKK and i was amazed at the quality.

Luckily a lot of sceneries do work with Prepar3D v3.X and even the AS Airbus does have an installer for v3.
